Of course it matters. If it didn't turn 2000 revolutions per hour at the
outer diameter (that means 2000 pi or 6283 ft/h or 1.19 mi/h (mph)), and
it was off one picofarad per literchron the earth would immediately
plunge into the sun ending life as we know it.
