Sadly though for foreign members, we are paying "over the odds" (30 USD) as "extra postage" for two relatively slim journals. The Music Library Association, by comparison, takes 10 USD for four much, much thicker journals.
It does not cost 30 USD to send these two thin volumes in the manner that they are sent. Or I should say it does not cost more than 30 USD since an element of the subs must anyway go on postage (as US members don't have this surcharge).
When the "surcharge" is nearly half the cost of an individual subscription, that is a good way of alienating many non U.S. members who might be less likely to avail themselves of the mostly U.S.-centric member benefits.
