Dear ARSClist subscribers:
I'm a journalist working on a historical piece for NPR. The story is of William (Bill) Cimillo, a Bronx
bus driver for the Surface Transportation Corporation in 1947 who took his bus on an
unauthorized 3-day road trip to Florida. The story was covered by networks across the country. He
later appeared on several talk shows. We already have the footage of his interview with Faye
Emerson. I am looking for mentions of or appearances by Cimillo on the following:
-Newsreels (March 1947 or later)
-What’s My Line? (CBS)
-Don Hollenbeck (CBS)
-Bill Cullen’s Show
Here's where I've looked so far: Vanderbilt, Pacifica, Paley, archives.org, ITN Source, Historic Films,
National Archives, WNYC, CTD (CBS) Licensing. I'm headed to LOC soon, but nothing has appeared
on a preliminary search there. Any suggestions for finding 1947 newsreels? Any suggestions for
CBS talk show archives?
Thanks in advance for the collective expertise.
All the best,
Nellie Gilles
