This is awful. I well remember; what was at the top of the charts in the UK
in the key years of Punk/New Wave? "London Calling" by The Clash? "Singles
Going Steady" by the Buzzcocks?
Not even close. It was "Bat Out of Hell" by Meatloaf, week after week, and
an unending source of frustration pour moi. When all that great music was
coming out by the up and comers, how
could something like "Bat Out of Hell" run the show?
I still don't know how, and I don't like the album any more now than I did
circa 1980. But I even less like this story, where the local (Ohio-based)
music industry guy rolls the dice on an album
nobody wants and scores big, and the distro conspires to keep him from his
share. In any other industry, this should have set him up for life, but
because it's OUR industry, well, read for
yourself...
