It's actually not a bad idea to leave your collection to another collector, if you value the
tradition of collecting and wish to continue on interest in whatever got you into collecting. Alas,
the younger people really interested and educated in old recordings are few and far between. Some of
them find spinning vinyl trendy, but we'll see if they own a record or record player by the time
they hit 30. With the demise of music education, variety on the airwaves, etc. etc., it's hard for
younger people to gravitate to older musics and media. But, just like with vintage recording gear, a
few young people pop up, stay interested, get humble and still enough to actually listen and absorb
some knowledge, and become experts in their own times. Those are the people who might be prime to
inherit a collection.
Libraries not only "have more than they can use," of old media and slow-circulating items of any
kind, most of them don't care about what they have or are actively disposing of it.
