Hi, Jamie,
I worked one summer at Fisher Radio when they were still in Long Island
City. One very good engineer there gave me a Shure M91ED saying that it
did not ring the way my Stanton 681 EE rang and he thought I'd like it
more. Well, I did not, it sounded dull.
Later, and I've yet to find a scan of this article, I think it was Audio
magazine did some scanning electron micrographs of the common CBS
STR-??? test record that was used for these tests and the ringing was
CUT INTO THE CBS-STR??? test record!
At least that is my recollection.
If anyone finds the SEM Audio article, I'd love a scan.
So, please be careful where you go with ringing on old phonograph
cartridge reviews.
Cheers,
Richard
