Eric - No, we don't image individual pieces. We use a line-scan camera on a 
rotating platter to get long straight images of the grooves. The process is 
pretty forgiving of small misalignments and missing pieces, but broken discs 
are assembled as much as possible on the platter prior to imaging.

Chris - I also wrote them and haven't heard back. I'll let you know if I do.
