For those of you who deal with recorded sound, you may find the new Library of Congress Recording Preservation Plan website of interest: http://www.loc.gov/programs/national-recording-preservation-plan/about-this-program/
As you may recall, the National Recorded Sound Preservation Plan was released to the public in February 2013. One of the recommendations found in the plan (Recommendation 1.6) called for creation of an online Audio Preservation Resource Directory to serve the needs of policymakers, audio archive professionals, academics, students and the public. More information about the goals of the Directory can be found on pp. 14-15 (print version) and pp. 25-26 (pdf version)of the plan http://www.loc.gov/rr/record/nrpb/PLAN%20pdf.pdf
This website as is now stands is a nascent work-in-progress and more content will be added as recommendations in the plan are completed and additional resources become available. For now, the most developed and useful portions might be found in the Tools Section containing photos of Vintage and Contemporary Audio equipment, as well as pdfs and links for hundreds of audio manuals and catalogs. http://www.loc.gov/programs/national-recording-preservation-plan/tools-and-resources/
If you have questions/comments on the website including ideas for possible material to be added, please contact Cary O’Dell at: [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>
