Living in Austin, I can recommend plenty of restaurants, plus, when it comes to 78s, no trip to Austin is complete without a visit with Jim Cartwright, owner of "Immortal Performances." Jim has a collection of about 100 early phonographs and thousands of 78s. If you like, I can set up a lunch with all of the local record collecting nerds such as myself. While our group is interested in classical, we delight in hearing record collecting stories.
Feel free to contact me off list.

I plan to tour Austin, San Antonio and perhaps Houston, Texas, in
August/September 2014, travelling by rented car for two to three weeks.
If you know the area: Any recommendations about what to see, where to
go, whom to talk to? My basic interests are fine dining, 78s,
contemporary art, scenic sights, music (jazz, blues, frontera, country),
antiques and flea-markets.
Suggestions most welcome, either on-list or off-list. Thanks a lot!
