I often use file synchronization software for this purpose when I have a
lot of files that need copying/moving. Advantage over normal copy is that
if you get interrupted for whatever reason you can continue more or less
from where you left off and it's easy to repeat the process periodically.
On Windows, for example, SyncToy is a free MS tool that works ok and is
easy enough to learn.
