Hi Steve,
Without knowing any more detail than what you furnished, I would suggest
that moving the filing cabinet & speaker away from the walls and
particularly the corner would diminish the reinforcement of the bass.
Whether that is the coloration you object to is another question. Trial and
error is the name of this game. I'm facing the same question now.
