And, of course, Hungarians. In any year after World War II, you could
walk into a bar in Budapest or Prague and round up enough professional
musicians to make a tolerable orchestra. I suspect that a lot of the
tiny labels that sprang up in the explosion of recording after the LP
was introduced did exactly that...or taped concerts off Eastern-bloc
radio stations.
