There's also the element of how much work members did on the side, especially Milt Jackson and John
Lewis. Milt Jackson was a headliner by himself. John Lewis did soundtrack work under his own name,
but often involed other MJQ members during the recording sessions.
Heath and Kay played on plenty of other musicians' albums. All of those guys were always busy and in
demand because they were superb musicians and could easily fit into many musical settings.
