Dear ARSC Listers:
Merry Happy to all of you and yours. May your 2015 be happy, healthy and prosperous.
Following are links to a few holiday-themed snippets you all might enjoy.
First, a Lionel Trains ad from the 1960's. It was made at my father's studio, and was a TV ad (I say
that beccause I removed a pic-sync tone from the tape when I transferred it). Lionel trains were
still a hugely popular Christmas gift for boys back then, and a few years later when I was a kid.
Next, a NYC time capsule. Christmas 1945. Majestic Records head office in NYC recorded a greeting to
be played at the Christmas party at the St. Charles IL pressing plant. The company's president at
that time was former NYC mayor Jimmy Walker.
Finally, something more sober and sobering. The audio was tacked on the end of a tape that I dubbed
for a client a few years ago.
WOR, 710-AM, early rush hour broadcast, last day of 1970.
Sad to note that chaos, violence and mayhem never go out of style. Same as it ever was, 44 years
On a brighter note, dig the commercials!
For all of us in the sound-collecting trade, may 2015 reveal wonderful new aural pleasures.
