Aha, PBCore. Had not thought of that. We were trying to limit ourselves to just METS, MODS and DC, but this is an interesting thought. Thanks!

At this time there is not a lot of granularity in the physical description area of MODS to specify these kinds of things. There may be such information within an extent statement, but that would be as a string that is not specifically about color or sound. It could be put into a typed note under physicalDescription of course. An alternative might be to put into an extension using elements from something like PBCore. For example from PBCore: instantiationChannelConfiguration; instantiationColors; instantiationGenerations.
If there is need to provide this sort of information in MODS it could be requested to the Editorial Committee.
