Hi Michele,
there is <coordinates> under subject/cartographics. Cartographics can be
combined with a geographic name within one <subject> element if needed.
Here is an example from the MODS documentation:
<subject>
<hierarchicalGeographic>
<territory>British Indian Ocean Territory</territory>
</hierarchicalGeographic>
<cartographics>
<coordinates>6 00 S, 71 30 E</coordinates>
</cartographics>
</subject>
