The traditions of "folk music" acknowledge this recycling and reuse as
"the folk process." Didn't Julia Ward Howe set her "Battle Hymn of the
Republic" to the "folk" tune "John Brown's Body" which apparently was at
least partially composed by a collective at a "camp meeting?"
