Trivia to prove I was there - 1982A was the take number for the studio. Leo asked what is the next song called, Bill said, oh, I dunno yet, and Leo slated “1982A” and the name stuck. It was right after the words “But wonderful was how we’re meant to feel” that the toke is audible… total poetic perfection!
I went to high school with Bill and his sister Sally in the good ol’ sixties at Tamalpais. A great man!
The Sons played a reunion concert here in Marin late last Summer… Write me off list if you want to chat Champlin!
