For the VHS part of this, I highly recommend Don Norwood, owner of Digitrack Communications:

Don's an expert on all things analog video, and he makes particularly good VHS transfers.
What one runs into with VHS is, how much do I want to spend on a crappy format? The good thing about
Don is that he can do fast, straight-forward digitization that looks good. If you want to get into
"improving" the look of VHS, it gets time-consuming and expensive in the digital realm.
