I just called the hotel and their best price is $220 per night, which they claim is the conference rate and I have to pay for it now and it's non-refundable. They also claim that I won't find a cheaper hotel anywhere in Pittsburgh. Is this all true?

RE: 49th Annual ARSC Conference (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on May 27-30, 2015)
The ARSC room block at the Westin Convention Center in downtown Pittsburgh is nearly sold out and they will not be able to provide us with any additional rooms at the conference rate. By the time you receive this message, the peak nights of Wed.-Fri. may well be completely sold out, though we have plenty of rooms available on Tuesday and Saturday. The hotel has started a wait list - you will need to call reservations to be placed on the list: (412) 560-6365.
Roommates:
I currently have one female attendee with a double room at the Westin (5/27-5/31) seeking a roommate. If anyone else is seeking a roommate please let me know as soon as possible. Please provide me with the dates of your stay, let me know if you've already booked a room, and if you have any other preferences.
Overflow Hotel:
I am currently obtaining quotes from 3 nearby hotels, but probably won't be able to finalize an agreement for overflow rooms until next Tuesday or Wednesday. Meanwhile, I'd like to start a list of those still seeking rooms. This will help me to estimate how many overflow rooms are needed so I can negotiate a favorable contract. Send me a short email at the address below a.s.a.p.
