If I read the description properly of the KAB device you are using., then
you should be OK with your cartridge wired normally.  You'll know instantly
upon dropping the needle because you won't hear much (if it isn't
correcting for phase.)  As Mr. Clark indicates, when you sum your "stereo"
i.e L and R channels together then most of the noise will disappear.
