True. But if/when Bibframe happens, it would seem to be a basic
requirement that an ILS does Bibframe in *and* Bibframe out.
Muck of SLC's business in past year has been dealing with ILS which
could load MARC records, but could not export them due to lost state,
e.g., all 6XX in one string with delimiters, thus no distinction
amongst 600, 610, 611, 630, 650, and 651. When there was system
migration, the library had to have a whole new database. How data is
stored internally is very relevant, if that internal storage
eliminates some data.
Are ILS vendors being included in this discussion?
