You all (well most of you) really need to see this video. (link below)
It's the full 2 hour presentation that Vince Giordano gave on the music of
HBO's series "Boardwalk Empire" that he presented in June 2014 at the
meeting of the New York Chapter of ARSC (Association for Recorded Sound
Collections). Vince was the music director and did all the music arrangements. He
plays original records and compares to the new one he did with current
artists like Regina Spektor, Liza Minelli and Pokey Lafarge. It's really
entertaining.
As I said it runs almost 2 hours so you may want to watch in two sittings.
If you have a Roku or TV streaming device you can watch on big screen. I
found it easier to download to my PC using free program Freemake Video
Downloader and burning to a DVD and watching on my 42 inch screen. The sound of
the recordings is great. Leah Biel - who video recorded the presentation
- did a great job with camerawork moving between Vince and the graphics he
shows. GREAT job Leah!
