I have quite a few of the Basf LP 35 tapes in nice grey plastic boxes. Guess they may be from the mid-late 70's. I have recorded on them and the sound quality is ok on 71/2 ips. BUT; as soon as I have started the tape the capstain starts to get browner and browner, seems like a kind of powder from the tape. For one or another reason it mostly shed on the capstain, not on the heads. Any ideas about what this is? May it damage the heads?
All the best Jan Myren, NORWAY
