With my previous post testing the rumour, I should have added that I 
would strongly suggest Samplitude. With the new lower pricing, it is 
really affordable. I have been using it since, I think, 1998. It is very 
powerful and sounds great.

I didn't see a new folder with all the one-minute files that Audacity 
used to make. But I didn't look in all the places it could have been 
stashed, just the folder of the original file, so I don't know if that 
abomination is now passed. I also checked AppData and ProgramData and 
nothing there. Good news!
