I just finished a transfer from home tape that had a 58.5 hz hum which, when
removed, unveiled one at 60 hz. The 2d was correct as the pitch mated
ta=hat of the commercial LP at 33.33 recorded at the same venue with the
same performers a year adjacent.

The most reliable, although not always perfect, way to determine the pitch
is to set the mains hum (and harmonics) frequencies (almost always captured
in the recording process) to 50 or 60 Hz (and multiples for the harmonics).
Hum is the only real historical information regarding recording speed, and,
hence, pitch.
