On their web site a one year subscription to the Oxford American is $24.98 and a two year is $34.98.

So one would be getting the second year for less than the cost of the second second Music/CD issue.  Perhaps Ms. Smittle can provide an even better discount than that.

I signed up for the two year subscription a few weeks ago.  I suspect that it's to the benefit of the Oxford American to be able to guarantee higher subscriber numbers to their advertisers for two years rather than one.  As well as saving on sending out renewal notices and the like.
