Hi Nathan:
Can you or someone on the committee that awards these grants account for how much content preserved
so far using ARSC grants is available to the general public, accessible online or some other easy
method (as opposed to having to show up at a physical place during certain hours)? I, and perhaps
others, don't wish to donate to a fund that doesn't require easy and wide-ranging public access to
digitized/preserved audio content, especially something as appealing as classical music.

Subject: [ARSCLIST] Donate to ARSC’s Classical Music Preservation Fund and Your Gift Will Be Matched
Hello ARSClisters:
ARSC has received an offer from an anonymous donor to match all gifts to ARSC's Classical Music
Preservation Grant Fund up to $20,000!
Please support ARSC in its mission to promote the preservation and study of classical music by
making a tax-deductible donation to ARSC’s Classical Music Preservation Fund. Through the generosity
of an anonymous donor, your gift will be matched dollar for dollar up to $20,000. All donations
received by December 31, 2015 will be fully tax-deductible on your 2015 U.S. tax return.
You may give when you join or renew your membership online (http://www.arsc-audio.org/join.html) or
by using the membership renewal notice that current members will receive in the mail in the coming
days.
Or you may visit ARSC's new donation page (http://www.arsc-audio.org/donate/), which will allow you
to make an honorary or memorial gift to the Classical Music Preservation Fund that will be
acknowledged in the ARSC Newsletter.
ARSC’s Classical Music Preservation Grants encourage and support the preservation of recordings of
music from the Western classical tradition by institutions and individuals. Beginning in 2006 the
program has funded, among other projects, digital preservation projects for six major symphony
orchestras, including the Boston Symphony, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Detroit Symphony, the
Pittsburgh Symphony, the Atlanta Symphony, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Recently these grants
have funded the recovery of recorded lectures and music performances by Brazilian composer Heitor
Villa-Lobos, and the digital preservation of cassette recordings of opera performances at the
National Theatre in Belgrade held by the National Library of Serbia.
Please help ARSC make the most of this generous offer. And please feel free to contact me off-list
with any questions.
Thank you,
Nathan
