I use Discogs as a reference, especially for figuring out song titles when I dub a tape with no
labelling (ie when I'm given a transfer job by a collector with the mandate "get my old tapes into
my iPod"). Also, now that Tag&Rename has hooked into Discogs, it's a quick and easy way to populate
metadata into my LP transfers on their way into my digital library. I've only bought one record via
Discogs, and found the experience disappointing. I prefer eBay, which is more buyer-friendly.
For a crowd-sourced database, I've found Discogs to be surprisingly accurate about stuff like song
titles and sequences, although I haven't looked up overly obscure LPs. Since I tend to be in the
jazz and rock realms, I think there are enough datapoints to be accurate.
