I've just read an interesting review of a concert given in the UK in 1921. Here is an excerpt, with the composer and the work hidden. Can anyone guess what the work was?

"***'s ‘*** *** ***’ in the evening was the event of the hour, and discussion raged hot and strong over it. ... some damned it eternally as horrible, others would like to
hear it again for better comprehension." (Bold letters and underlining are mine.)


While I'd never consider comparing this unnamed work with Mr. Foss' mishmash (my opinion), still it shows that opinions can change considerably with time.
