Yeah - I need to buy a new laptop. However the trend seems to be solid
state 'hard-drive' of limited capacity, the expectation being that all
files will be uploaded as back up to a cloud site at the end of each
day. Hence storage.
Problem who can trust cloud sites hosted in indeterminate countries by
unknown companies. There's too much hacking and release of personal
info. as it is from online retail companies - let alone having such
sites host commercially valuable data.
Then there is using the cloud to back up pre-existing files from
computer hard-drives and external hard-drives as a precaution against
loss (whatever the reason). Hence back-up.
BTW if anyone knows of a brand (not Lenova with in built spyware) that
offers laptops with proper hard-drives do let me know. As others have
opined re: SD cards aka solid state 'drives' of limited robistness,
please let me know.
CJB.
