on culture
Hi,
ECR is shorthand for 'Edison Cylinder Records, 1889-1912.'
It contains over 10,000 cyls, among other things (2-min. brown wax, black
wax, 2", 5", 4-min wax, etc.); also the Wangemann Notebooks, day by day (on
site, from May 1889 on). Artist lists and chronologies too. Just a few
left...
We recall, sadly, how Wangemann died, on his way to work at the Edison
labs.
fwiw, Wangemann is noted in PHP as having received two US patents, both in
1905.
