Hi Shaun,
This is experimental at this point. Our last MODS survey indicated that the community wanted these XSLTs available via GitHub, so we are trying it. The new MARC > MODS GitHub repos correlate and reflect the official mapping from MARC to MODS for each MODS version. So, yes we are maintaining a mapping and repo for each MODS version and that is reflected in the LC GitHub repos. These LC XSLTs reflect the official LC mappings, so we will not accept any requests that do not reflect an existing LC mapping. If users believe there is an issue with an LC mapping they can contact the NDMSO office as usual and we will re-evaluate the mapping. If users believe that there is an error in an XSLT and that the XSLT is misinterpreting the LC mapping then they can submit an XSLT request via GitHub. The request will be evaluated and if the request matches the LC mapping and improves the LC XSLT it will be pulled. We will re-evaluate the process periodically to assess whether it is working well or not with regard to mapping and XSLT maintenance. We are hoping that people in the community will be thoughtful and think through and test their requests with valid MARC records before submitting requests so that this process is an improvement over the current process.
Best, Tracy

Subject: Re: [MODS] MARC>MODS 3.5 and 3.6 XSLTs (1.0 and 2.0)
Hi Melanie and all,
Thanks to the EC for making these updated transformations available in GitHub. Is it expected that going forward, each numbered Revision will be published as its own commit, or might this depend on the frequency of changes?
In addition, are implementers encouraged to use GitHub's issues and/or pull requests features to report/suggest solutions for any future problems that may be discovered?
Regards,
Shaun Akhtar
