Isn't Persona a synonym for Identity? On RDA-L, Bob Maxwell has proposed "Individual" as a substitute for Person. What about Individual Identity and Collective Identity?

Persona does seem like a good fit, but the translation issue is a good reason to avoid it.

Out of curiosity, I put Agent into Google Translate.  The best options from the results were Actor and Auctor (Author).  Both of those are even more of a problem than Agent.  :)

I've casually tried a few other words and haven't come up with anything.  Everything I come up with involves an action, which is what Kevin and Ted want to avoid.  I'm not sure there is a good label that fits the criteria.
