Summary of Position and Duties
The Assistant Chief reports to the Chief of the National Audio-Visual Conservation Center (NAVCC) and serves as the chief operations officer for the NAVCC. The incumbent directly manages and supervises day-to-day operations and services of the film, video and audio preservation laboratories, as well as the technology and administrative offices. The position coordinates the achievement of agency strategic goals and objectives, and develops and implements policies, procedures and performance metrics for the evaluation and improvement of program effectiveness and efficiency.
The incumbent oversees and manages day-to-day operations of the NAVCC, the world's largest public archive of moving image and recorded sound collections. In that capacity has overall responsibility as well as delegated authority for the oversight and administration of broad, emerging, and critical agency programs related to the acquisition, preservation, and access to the Library's moving image and recorded sound collections.
