There is a different assembly available that doesn't require the hole for
the push and turn function if you are using only one stylus. It is a
pressure fit and looks similar to the stereo one at this link just under the
G.E.Stylus.

You'll find much better s/n ratio with the higher mass arm. I used to have
an old Garrard changer with a plastic tone arm. I found that using an Audax
tone arm which has higher mass the output was higher with less surface
noise. A Pickering 190-D tone arm with only the tip with vertical travel
follows warped records well and has high mass as well . The G.E is
especially good for worn records. Below is a link to a picture of the
