Subject: [ARSCLIST] 1930s broadcasts by Leon Theremin's Electrio / Electro
Ensemble
Dear Group
I am doing research on Mr. Theremin. My focus is the actual sound of his
musical instruments which are lesser known, and I have a few questions for
you:
Sound recordings of the Electrio / Electro Ensemble: I already contacted
Carnegie Hall Archives, but they do not have any recordings from the
concerts Theremin did there (which also might have been broadcasted).
I also contacted the Library of Congress, without any results about the
following Radio Broadcasts:
a) WJZ June 25, 1931 - the station was owned by NBC
b) CBS early 1932 3:15pm on Mondays (source: Albert Glinsky’s book on
Theremin / another source is the website of
http://www.peterpringle.com/visitgoldie1.html
<http://www.peterpringle.com/visitgoldie1.html> , he states 2:15 and the
KMBC radio station. I already contacted the KMBC Archives, without results
neither)
I would highly appreciate any comments on the above.
Also, does anyone know of any other possible sound recording of the Electrio
/ Electro Ensemble?
Do recordings of Leopold Stokowski's concerts exist from January 1932 when
he used the Keyboard Theremin?
Thank you in advance
David Koch
