I forgot to add that most of these styli were conical, though we also had a 3.0 eliptical. I don't think I used that one often.

When I was a Recorded Sound playback technician (more than a decade ago), David Sager encouraged me to try smaller styli to get a good read of the bottom of the groove. On different discs, I might use a 3.0, 2.7, 2.0, even down to 1.5 if I remember correctly. More than with any other manufacturer, trial and error was necessary to get the best sound from Edison Diamond discs.

Hello everyone

I'm playing Edison Diamond disks with a Shure 3.5 FCR stylus in my Technics shell on my Technics SL-1200 MKII I was told that the 3.5 FCR stylus was the best for playing Edison Diamond disks, but I'm not really satisfied with the sound.
I've got the wiring correct for vertical grooves and the left and right channels are joined to make mono.
The disks are in very good condition.

Are there other stylus configurations that might work better?
