Hi Everyone,
I learned only today of the passing of one of the ARSC Journal's long-time recording reviewers, David Breckbill. He was brilliant and widely-published scholar in many musical areas, including the history of Wagner performance, which was his specialty. He was also an exceptional person. I found an obituary for him on line, as well as a tribute to him on the web site of Doane College, where he had been a faculty member for many years.

He had told me of his illness last summer, but asked me to keep it to myself, which I respected.
There was a short memorial piece in the latest mailing of the Vocal Record Collectors Society.
Best,
Gary
