Dear audio archivists,
I'm an archival producer working on an film about the November 14, 1959
murder of the Clutter Family in Holcomb Kansas committed by Richard Hickock
and Perry Smith. The crime is most famously profiled in Truman Capote's
"In Cold Blood".
I'm seeking audio coverage of ANY part of the case. I've pasted some
important dates below.
My thought is that this was most likely to be covered locally. However,
it's possible that it could've been in national news for a short period of
time. Does anyone hold collections of local Kansas or regional (Arkansas,
Missouri, Colorado, Illinois) coverage, or any other nearby local or
national coverage that may have mentioned the murders dating back to 1959?
Also, I'd be happy to find any Kansas farm reports (Kansas co-ops or farm
credit) from the time. I'd even take Kansas weather for texture.
Any advice and guidance welcome. I'm having a hard time believing that no
reporter voiceover coverage of this stuff exists. Even the news coverage
we've found from teh Topeka station doesn't have reporter VO.
Thanks in advance!!!
Best,
Lizzy
