Just to see what happens and shake he tree a bit could you send your
BnF colleague the two exemplars I sent your way? They should expose
weaknesses, if any, in the graph-theoretical underpinnings of their
Nouvelle Vague.
Should they object to having to catalog the Norton Critical Edition, you
might point out that the "publication boundary² defined by the publisher
does not necessarily align with the discovery and access boundary defined
by the user. If we expect automated systems to support catalogers in
recursion-friendly resource description and access, reaching into
something like "Eight Modern Plays" to discover the ³Works² therein should
be a default behavior (could Watson do it?).
