Wow! Very exciting news for you, Pam! A loss for us. Thank you for your leadership this year and I wish you all the best.

Greetings friends,

I am thrilled and honored to be a part of the collaborations, projects, and programs of the state Centers for the Book and grateful for the remarkable experience we created earlier this month at the annual idea exchange. It is my hope that the work that has been developed continues to flourish as a result of our investment.

On a personal note, I am resigning from my position as Director for the Center for the Book in June and I am very sad about it. This was a difficult choice for me to make because of how awesome you all have been. I am, however, getting married in July and joining my long-time partner in Dubai where he has been living for several years. My son and I are moving right after the wedding and because he'll start high school there, we had to leave much sooner than expected.

Becky Clark, a phenomenal executive and leader here at the Library in its Publishing Office will serve as Acting Director for CFB until the national search is completed. She and I are partnering to ensure a smooth and productive transition!

We will plan a conference call for early June to share more and create what's next! In the interim, we continue preparing for the Pavilion of the States and Becky and I will be collaborating with IMLS, COSLA, and NEH for those preparations.

Best,
Pam

Subject: Center for the Book Leadership Transition

Pam Jackson, the director of the Center for the Book, has announced that she will be getting married and moving overseas to join her husband. Her last day with the Library will be Friday, June 9. I hope you will join me in thanking Pam for her leadership for the Center for the Book and her 14 years of service to the Library of Congress, Congress, and the nation. From the Congressional Research Service, to National & International Outreach, Pam's enthusiasm and dedication have helped make the Library a stronger, more effective institution. We wish her all the best as she takes on this new chapter in life, which includes new work as an economic industry analyst in Dubai.

As we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Center for the Book, the Library of Congress remains dedicated to its mission to promote literacy and reading, and to empower others to do the same. The Library will launch a national search to identify the next director of the Center for the Book. In the interim, Becky Brasington Clark, the chief of the Library of Congress Publishing Office, will serve as acting director to ensure a smooth transition for the Center for the Book.

Clark brings more than two decades of experience in marketing and outreach focused on publishing and the literary community. Before joining the Library she spent 12 years as director of marketing for the Johns Hopkins University Press and held similar positions at the Brookings Institution Press, the New Republic, Counterpoint Press, and Moon Travel Handbooks. She serves on the Board of the American Association of University Presses (AAUP), and has served an adjunct faculty member in George Washington University's Master of Professional Studies in Publishing program.
