I think there are two more important issues. One is the high cost of LPs,
many retailing for $25 or $30 or more. Younger people may buy a few titles
to go with the Crosley player they got for their birthday, but they can't
keep buying at those prices.
The other is the glut of titles which don't really need to be on vinyl: new
artists who mainly sell or stream digitally but want the cachet of a vinyl
release. I've heard store owners complain about Record Store Day requiring
them to buy boxes of new artist vinyl that winds up sitting in bins,
unsellable.
