I'd also check the guides on your preferred playback deck. Sometimes, with
cheap consumer tape, the slitting width could vary because of poor
production QC. This can cause the tape to vibrate slowly as it passes
through the guides and that movement can affect tape to head contact,
causing flutter or in the worst case, dropouts.
