Hi Alec,
I have recently researched the availability of new reel supplies and sadly nobody is producing slot-less 7” reels anymore. There is only one mold out there, and it is the slotted reel that you will see no matter who the vendor is. They all come from the same source.
The only alternative to Lou’s suggestion would be to get 10.5” NAB reels. Either way, the best source for availability and price is http://www.splicit.com. They sell the slotted plastic 7” reels, traditional metal 10.5” reels, and also solid plastic 10.5” reels. I have used all three of these reel types and they are all quality products.

Virtually all the ones we've found for sale seem to have a slot in the hub, which risks creating an uneven tape pack. Any advice is welcome - either a vendor who might sell these, or alternative solutions. We've considered taping over the slots, but are concerned that, aside from creating extra work, it might cause further complications with the packing of the tape.
