Metadata creators are at the forefront of advocating for social justice in our
work, because we recognize the harmful effects that inappropriate or missing
metadata can have on marginalized groups in our society. A code of ethics or
best practices guide would provide guidance in our day-to-day work as well as
reinforce the importance of the work we do to make information available. The
creation of such a document will be a collaborative and cooperative project,
which is why we need your participation!

The small group discussions at this session will be added to feedback from
prior CaMMS events on ethics and will inform the development of best practices
and/or other documents that reflect the values of our profession.

CaMMS is seeking volunteers to help with the small group discussions at the
CaMMS Forum at ALA Midwinter 2018 in Denver.

We are looking for volunteers for the following roles:

    Small group discussion leaders/facilitators

    Note takers*

    Tweeters*

* These roles are critical to enable broad community participation and
interaction between in-person and remote participants.

If you’d like to volunteer to be a discussion facilitator, note taker, or
tweeter for the CaMMS Forum at Midwinter 2018, please indicate your interest
