Hi all,
Three of our MLIS students are doing two surveys to inform cataloging of comics (see email below for more details).
One if for librarians: https://goo.gl/forms/eqqhgMsvEpITbRos2
One is for other users of comics: https://goo.gl/forms/SRzeUMphjx0NfVNZ2
Please respond and also feel free to distribute widely!

Subject: Capstone Project: Comics Cataloging Surveys
Hello iSchool folks!
As most of you are hopefully aware, I'm currently working on a Capstone project with Allison Bailund and Staci Crouch about cataloging of comics in libraries. Comics and graphic novels have consistently been difficult to catalog in libraries due to various factors such as their unique publishing schedules, their position in between periodicals and monographs, and the large number of people involved in their creation. Questions often arise such as what part of the library to put them in, whether they should be separated out by format/age ranges, and whether they should even have a place in libraries at all. We hope to contribute towards solving this problem!
To do this, we are doing original research in three parts, including:
* A Librarian Survey, which asks for input from librarians or staff at institutions that have comics collections. With this survey, we want to know what people are currently doing to put comics in their libraries.
* A User Survey, which asks comics fans what they might be looking for when they go to their library to find comics.
* Librarian Interviews, which are a follow-up to the librarian survey, where we will ask more in-depth questions.
The reason I'm reaching out to all of you, is for help in spreading our two surveys as far and wide as possible! We have already opened the surveys for responses, and they can be found at the following links. The interviews will be conducted in March or April, with dates to be determined individually with each participant.

Any help you can give us, by sharing in your personal/professional networks, by talking about this issue with your colleagues or students, or even by taking the surveys yourselves, would be extremely appreciated! Feel free even just to forward this email in its entirety. Any questions can be directed to me at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> or to our group email at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.
Thank you in advance, and have a great week! :)
