Consider flying to Boston: Southwest Airlines flies frequently between
their hub at BWI (Baltimore-Washington International Airport) and Boston.
Thus one can often get a roundtrip relatively cheap--maybe not a lot more
than $200--while saving at least 14 hours worth of driving. More if you
drive into rush hour traffic, which would be hard to avoid on that trip,
passing by Philadelphia, NYC, and into Boston.

Boston's Logan Airport is a pretty short subway ride from the main part of
the city, and the touristy parts of the Boston-Cambridge area are pretty
accessible via subway or, in extremis, Lyft/Uber. Having a car would
actually be a detriment once you get here: the streets are confusingly
irregular, the drivers are aggressive, and parking is almost impossible to
find and ridiculously expensive when you have to pay for it. In my
opinion, flying would both preferable and a lot more relaxing.

Lots of excellent restaurants of many types in Boston now, seafood
certainly among them.

Amtrak also runs reasonably frequent trains between Baltimore and
Boston--though on that route they take about as long as driving, and the
higher speed trains, which still aren't that fast, tend to cost more than
flying.
