both for replies to my query, and encouragement to stay with Mac:-)

iZotope RX can apparently read those markers, so perhaps using SoundForge for recording, with RX plugins might be a way out.
What I failed to mention in my initial query was that my MacPro (1,1) is hard to upgrade for a non-expert, and I wanted to use our existing AD-16X/MiniDAC setup from Apogee, minus its PCi card, in a new setting.
Since the demise of the old MacPro in 2012/13, there hasn’t really been any realistic alternative - except going the PC way - unless there’s a way to connect the converters to a modern Mac, using Thunderbolt or USB instead of the PCi card.
