What is the oldest example of a song you know of, that led to so much
public disfavor/outrage that it caused the composer revise it, re-copyright
it, and re-publish it? And if a sound recording was made of the
"objectionable" song, either pull the record from sale, and/or have the
artist come in and do the revised version?
So far, the earliest I could come up with is "You're a Grand Old Rag" from
1906. I would like to know if the musicologists in this group can come up
with anything earlier, before I stake a claim on this one.
